PRESIDENT - Mick Mulvaney joined the RAF in 1951 and was selected to study Chinese but finished at Kidbrooke studying Russian. On completion he was posted to Berlin via Uetersen, Butzweilerhof and Hambuhren. Mike's postings alternated between Berlin and the training school but he also spent time on detachment in Cyprus before finishing up at GCHQ and Digby. Mike played rugby and soccer for Signals Command and took the Civil Service Interpreter Exams in Russian and German. After leaving the RAF, he joined a Dutch chemical company, taking care of Eastern Bloc countries, then to British Leyland, and then to the USA where he is Vice President of an Oil and Water storage business.University degrees in Russian, German and English now lives at Newport Beach, California.

MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY - Mike Hancock finished school in Chichester after moving around a lot as his father was an RAF Transport Command pilot. He joined the RAF in January 1966 and completed a German language course. Mike served in Berlin, Celle and Digby before completing a Russian Course in 1973. He subsequently served at Wyton, London, Cawdor Barracks (ex RAF Brawdy) and Saudi Arabia ending his RAF career as the Unit Warrant Officer at JSSU Digby. He worked in various jobs before joining the Civil Service. He then again served at Wyton, Brampton and Henlow before taking up post as Operational Director at Haslar Hospital in Gosport. Since May 2009 he has worked as Archive Manager in the MOD. He and Sue have been married for forty years and have two children and one grandchild. Sue is now retired and Mike is contemplating taking on a similar role, to devote more time to music and crosswords which he has often compiled for the Rafling News.
